^^^ I hear what you're saying WB, but what percentage of new 911 market do the blue blood porschephils represent? The rest of the folks don't care about engine heritage or for that matter, what's under the hood. I'll go out on a limb to make a general statement or two:

1. On average, air cooled guys care a lot more about a 911 having a flat 6 than the water cooled guys.

2. Of the water cooled guys, the Turbo guys care even less.

I agree with JackB, the flat 6 is not a pretty engine from the outside. It's beauty is all on the inside...i.e. more than skin deep .

I'd think they could use a V8 which they already have, but then again, they could develop a flat 8 for marketing purposes. But then again, Alois says his new 8 has a lower center of gravity than the 6. Time will tell.
