She killed my 911!

score one for the good guys... i had to share this, laughed so hard last night.
I'm coming home from work and some teenager in a little toyota is passing by me with her face in her phone texting and driving. She slowed down and got behind me at one point and I could see her with her phone up and driving. I thought "oh you gotta be sh**ing me... really?" sped up, slowed down, sped up, slowed down... all over the place.
I decide to change lanes and slow down since she isn't going around me from slowing down. So at this point I'm crawling up on a light, she's still doing her thing. Light turned yellow, I have PLENTY of time to stop. This chick is buried in her phone, speeds up to make it through and it's red 1/4 through the light.
At the intersection is a Sherrif hiding behind a couple of cars. He plows out and gets on it and gets right up behind her. His brake lights went on so I knew he was just getting close enough to run plates as quickly as he accelerated out there. Light turns green and I'm a little bit behind them. I remember thinking "Please oh please oh please oh please...." lights go on and she gets pulled over. As I drive by she's still on her phone! Durrrrr.
I'd love to hear her explain in traffic court how responsible she is for running a red light while texting.
Not sure if anyone knows, but we JUST passed a law in oregon that if you're driving while on the phone it's a $100 fine. Running a red light was $242 last I checked. Wonder if they'll throw in careless/reckless on top of it. I have no remorse for people who drive distracted and don't pay attention.
So sorry again to hear about your car man. Figured i'd share at least one good story.

We passed a law that it is illegal to talk/text on a cell phone over here in Oregon just last year. Only a $100 fine! I feel it should be more than that. They actually have been doing pretty good about enforcing it here lately.

If it's her second accident in the same week than she's got more serious issues. Safety for her obviously is not a priority. If you know she was on the phone when she hit you than sue.

I just wanted to post a close call for me today. Traffic was moving slow due to a wreck on the side of the 3 lane state highway. Everyone was rubber necking and I heard WHAM and the car behind me was rear ended from another rubbernecker/texter. I sped up just quick enough to keep from being crunched.
No more FRIDAY driving for me.

DWI is illegal too but doesn't stop people from doing it. "handsfree" doesn't stop people from doing it.
Sorry to hear and see the hits your 911 took. Sure you don't have one of those "soft flesh wounds" good luck with the new car.
