Default She killed my 911!

I have been holding off on this post for a while for a lot of reasons, but here it is:

So I was driving on 12/11 to do some shopping with my daughter and it was a nice day in Richmond, VA so I decided to take the 911 out. I got into some Christmas traffic near a mall and got slammed from behind as you can see from the attached pics. I was stopped and she was going I estimate 35mph and pushed me into the Murano that was also stopped in front of me. The first thing she says is, "Such a bad week, my second accident this week...." (cell phone in hand of course, I figure this was a texting or dialing cell # thing).

Anyway, my 6 year old and I were and are fine. (The important part...keep telling myself that!)

The 911 fared well in the safety department. The doors opened as before the accident. There were no leaks or safety issues. It is obviously totalled. I came out of it OK with insurance after much battling.

There just aren't any nice 911 G50s out there I could find for a reasonable price. Mine only had 38k on it was recently on display in a car show, so it was a bit of a prom queen car. I would have rather lined up my wife's G35 and let it take a shot vs. the 911, but I didn't get a choice.

The good news is that pieces of my car will live on as I bought the car back for salvage value and sold it to my local shop guys who are taking many of the parts (motor/tranny/suspension/brakes, etc.) and putting it into a VW bus they are building to be called, "Frankenbus".

Anyway, I have really enjoyed the 911 forum talk, banter, discussion and info I have learned, but I'll be moving over to the Cayman S board as I recently bought a 2008 CS.

I will probably look for an older 911 I can buy and strip down and build up the way I want in the future as I have seen some others do.

Best of luck and watch out for dumb b*#ches driving 4-runners...

Fock! That is terrible. Sorry it happened, but good for you and the daughter. I'm sure you can find a replacement soon, although at a price.

Condolences on the Cayman.... Lol

What a waste! I'm glad that you and your girl are OK. My cab is also 1989 and nowhere nearly as nice as yours.

To echo the others.
1. Glad to hear both you and your daughter are OK.
2. Sorry about the car...

I also have a 6 year old daughter who drives with me once in a while. Since my '87 does not have 3-point belts in the rear (yeah, I know I may be able to retrofit them) my daughter rides in the passenger seat with a booster.

Where was your daughter sitting when you were hit?

Man glad you two are ok!

Question if you don't mind me asking. Which insurance company do you use? I need to find a new one. I am not real wild about my classic policy and may switch to a regular policy since mine is so restrictive.

How did you agree on a fair settlement? I would be afraid they would only offer like $5k since it is a 20+ year old car which we all know is not the true value.

Glad everyone was OK. Gotta hate the retards driving their vehicles while texting, reading a book, painting their toe nails (seriously, this happened here a couple weeks ago) and all that other crap.

You really shouldn't have removed your big honkin rubber baby buggy bumpers. There likely wouldn't have been any damage at all. Obviously only joking.

In another direction, what muffler is that? Is it one of Ben's? How is the sound and loudness? Other info?? Thanks.

I think any carrier will offer you agreed upon value. I have it on the '84 with Allstate. It only added a few $.
