Default Just met a gorgeous 36k mile 2.7 RS Touring

Was checking out my Dad's Jensen Interceptor today, which is in the process of being restored and met a beautiful, original 2.7 RS Touring with just 36k miles on the clock.

The owner bought it for his Wife in the 70's as a toy to take rallying at the weekends. She only used it three times and he kept it stored, using it sparingly for high days and holidays. He's just had it restored at the same place my Dad's Jensen is at. Sitting in this RS was just an amazing feeling, the interior was utterly like new. I found the seating position to feel very 'perched'. The underside is like new and even when it arrived for restoration, the car was very clean.

The RS200 in the photos in the 0-60 challenge car that was used against an F1 car at Silverstone back in the 80's. They aren't sure what to do with it!

In my myopic North American view, it's nice to see brands like Snap On and SSI have broad appeal.

Am I correct in saying that some 2.7 RS Touring came with a sunroof? I'm pretty certain they did, but just wanted to check.

The Cobra on the lift isn't a real one unfortunately, it's a Dax with a 350 installed. They are building it for a customer who was disabled in a bike accident, so the car is being adapted to meet his requirements.

That is a Jensen on the axle stands though. : )

I believe sunroof'd RS are Touring spec as opposed to the Lightweight non-sunroof'd versions. Both still astronomical in price, although the Lightweight carry a premium, i think down to their competition lineage

Actually of the 200 original factory lightweight (M471) cars there were 4 built w/ a sunroof.

Thanks for sharing photos of the shop. That has to be one of the lowest mile RHD Carreras around.

Nice

Thanks for the photos.

There are two Jenson Interceptors that I am aware of in my area that are on the road (weekenders)

The standard spec for, RS Lightweight and RS Touring for the 2.7 had the sunroof deleted and was not an option on the standard factory spec, especially for the first 500 homologation exercise.

However after the first run you could select from the RS designated options list to kit your car with a fuller spec, this list also omitted the sunroof.

Then over the standard RS options list customers then had a 'Z Orders' option list which could be specified including all other options available from the then current 911S range for RSL & RST. This included the sunroof option as a possibility in electric code option 650 and at a price of DM 1230.00.
