Default Tempted for a set of 46mm PMO's

Was speaking with Steve at Rennsport Systems and I'm tempted on purchasing a set on 46mm PMO's for my 3.0 SC Race Motor, 11.5:1 Compression, Twin Plug, DC62 Cams, Gas Flowed Heads, 1.75" Headers... does anyone know (probably Steve, lol) what Jets and Venturi's to run to get me there or thereabouts?... obviously car will hit the Dyno, but just want to get me close and want to what others have experienced.

If you tell PMO all about your engine, Richard will set them up for you with a good starter set of jets and air correctors. Mine's a 3.2 based on a 3.0, 9.5:1, single plug and I have 38 mm venturis, 160 mains and 180 air correctors supplied by PMO. It runs a little rich, but it should last.

Thanks Peter, it's just to get there or thereabouts... I know Richard doesn't want bombarded with calls but find it very strange that you can't even email them to ask a question and that you have to fax... Even fax machines are being fazed out, lol

Thats my job,.......

Seriously,...its my job as a PMO vendor/provider to pre-jet these things so they run right out of the box.

It will not be perfect, based on my own experience, however with a little tuning on your part and some extra jets, you will be able to get them dialed in for maximum drivability & performance.

Heed Steve's advice wisely....he'll also make sure you're not gonna fry your pistons out of the box. Who was it who did some damage here not so long ago with some apparently erroneous (lean) jetting?

JMHO,.......

Low to mid-range power (with your engine specification) is going to come from your exhaust system as well as how the carbs are configured.

One needs to carefully choose headers and muffler system to avoid leaving a "hole" between idle and 5K RPM. Further, the exhaust system REALLY affects jetting and mid-range power,......................

With your choice of cams, you also need close-ratio gears to keep the engine in its best productive range of power so don't overlook that as its a huge key to on-track performance.

Uh, Ed - that would be me Jetting was too lean and timing too advanced. An expensive lesson.

Well, that's me ruled that one out then... my regs do not allow changing of tranny ratios... bye, bye 46's or Cams

Thats OK, but it simply requires a more careful selection of camshafts and I'd likely not run those DC-62's.

I thought so Peter, but you didn't mention it, so I didn't mention your name.

Do you not like these cams Steve?... there are a few guys over here that run them and rate them highly... I will be running at a circuit where I am constantly using 2nd, 3rd and max 4th, I love to rev the motor out and would look to run max at 7600 (think the DC 62's would be suited for this) but the reason me wanting a low down to mid range grunt is there is a couple of slow 2nd gear corners.

Steve, how different are they over GE 60 Cams?
