Default 1980 Weissach Worth

A buddy of mine is selling his 1980 Weissach SC. He is the 3rd owner and it has 63,000 miles. Awesome condition, updated tensioners, pop-off box, gold metallic paint (not sure what the factory calls it). All original right down to the SUV ride height. What is a realistic selling price for this car?

Thanks for your replies.

The value of these cars are all over the place. My Weissach will be for sale as well, but it has 80k with 0 miles on a fresh rebuild w/ updates, fresh paint, new leather, gas tank, brakes, shocks... I spoke with one of the Porsche specialists and the value of my car is between $20k-$25 private party, $25-$30k retail. A low miles 40k one was between $25k-$30k pp, $30k-$35k retail. All I know is I have way too much money tied up in this car.

I was just offered one @ 18k. I don't recall the mileage off the top of my head, but the car was in above average condition. I never placed special value on the Weissach edition so I passed.

Like the Turbo-look cars, there seems like a premium attached to these cars just because they are a bit different. Well, not AS different as a turbo look - prolly not a good comparison. Sellers think they are priceless, buyers don't get it. I would like to have one myself though. I think they're pretty.

Mine is just now in average condition overall with 80k miles and I doubt it's worth 15k. I'll keep pecking away at improving it over the years until hopefully the 406 cars are worth a substantial premium some day. In the meantime I just had to go SSI and get a bit more fun quotient out of it. That has me thinking carbs and pretty soon it will be worth less I guess

I am surprised to see these cars in being valued in the mid to high 20's. GLWS, they are really pretty cars.
