Porsche guys get together all of the time in Atlanta and argue this (at a bar, and after a few beers). No one really ever wins, but we have a good time.
But , it seems to me that the lower weight and good looks of a small bumper longhood Porsche are the "best years"?
I'd say that nothing can outperform a 1973 911 with a stroked 2.4L 911S engine.
The early car has that stance with the tires tucked under the wheel wells. And nothings sings the "Porsche Song" as well as a 1973 911S on steroids.
No one ever looked at a 993/964 when an early Carrera drives into a Porsche dealership.
The oil lines and the rollbar are your first early warning.
