I use RA1s on a 79SC with 7" in the front and 9" rear. Look for warm (hot) tp of about 36 lbs front 39 lbs rear. Take the first laps easy until they begin to come in. Great rain tires. I was passing some GTs in the rain with them.

for dual purpose track and street leave unshaved. For track only shave them up or you will get some chunking on high g lower speed corners

I do drive the car to and from the track, so the tires need to be road worthy. And I have run a few events in the rain, so some grooves in tread are good. Currently use a set of Fuzion tires that i got with a set of Fuch wheels I purchased, tires still had the stickers on them when I bought the wheels. They are a 320 rating and I have pretty much worn them out. Typically run at VIR, have an event in Nov, so time to get moving on the tires. Found a site with RA1's listed for less than $200. a tire, I believe they were high $160's and $170's, need to check availability. I know some suspension work is in the near future, good amount of lean in the corners. $lippery $lope, I am learning that quickly.

That's a tight fit at the front. Notice any tire/fender lip interference or rub on inside wheel well? Rolled fender lip plus some moderate negative camber solves it?

NT01's are excellent when moving from street tires. And the sooner the better.

I had Nitto N05's under my old 1987 Carrera.

in 235 and 255's If your front offset is dead on - and (28-30) if your lips are rolled and if you have some decent camber - then you can fit pretty well.

My 225 45 17 NT01's on 8 inch fikse rims rubbed on the inside and pulled the fender lip. Switching to narrower 215 45 17's, is a poor fix. 7.5" wheel width may be max for unaltered 1987 Carrera. Rolling fender lip is a permanent solution.

Had the front fenders rolled after I had the car lowered. cut up a front tire in a hard corner before lowering. No problems since.

I ran Kumho Victorracers on my 1996 993 coupe for DE. Good dry adhesion and wear. When I bought the 2005 (996) Turbo S, I moved to Kumho Ecsta SPTs. Excellent adhesion - dry and wet - and decent wear on a 3500 pound car. Who knew you could safely do 110 mph in the rain? The Bridgestone Potenzas that came on the car were slippery and loud. They're on my 'dress' wheels now for show.
