Default Help me find a car

Looks like my 997S has finally sold!

I'm looking for a turnkey longhood and would appreciate any leads. I'm not in a position to take on a project at this point in time. I want a completed car in great condition. Budget is somewhat open ended and dependent on the car.

Ideal car would be something like a well done RS/RSR/ST or R tribute car. Something very fun to drive. There will be track days involved so I'm looking for something well sorted mechanically and around 10lbs/hp or better. I am very tolerant of "incorrect" cars, weird hot rods that look cool but the details are technically wrong and so on, as long as everything was executed at a high level. A/C not required but heat must work as it's chilly out here in the early AM when I do my best driving.

Sorry, no black cars, my back can't take the constant detailing!

I'm located in Santa Cruz, CA, but have bought and sold plenty of 911's from all over the country so no problem there. Must be able to run on our crappy 91 octane gas, and if it's a backdate, pass CA emissions.

Much thanks in advance,

Would you like a car built to spec? I've got the '73 1/2 sunroof coupe done with real RS flares sitting as a shell right now, with no real direction as to how I am going to put it back together. I put up a thread last month on the strip down progress, search for that if you're interested. Car has been in my family since 1990 with my cousin doing the build then, and me getting the car 8-9 years ago when he needed money for a lathe and CNC mill to build the 910.

Hi Ken,

Sounds intriguing but reading through your thread it seems like it would be a lot of work to make it a completed 90% street 10% track car, probably more than the market would bear these days. It looks like it would make a great auto-x type car though.

Too funny. So I guess the car put back together as a nice car with a 3.2 wouldn't bring $10K...........

To bring anyone who's interested up to date, I did have an inquiry on the car completed to spec a couple of weeks ago. Guy actually was passing through the Bay Area and stopped by for a look in person. Talked about doing it as a 3.6L, LSD trans, Fuchs 7's and 9's, softish suspension, 930 brakes, completed interior, and painting it black. Got back to me about a week later saying he'd trade straight up for his '01 cab with 70K that needs a clutch. Claimed it's an easy $40K sale if I put a clutch in it!

By market I meant a very nice turnkey RS clone, i.e. $40K range. I was reading your other thread where it sounded like you've already gone down the path of a competition-only car and it would be a pain to revert back to street-friendly, so I didn't want to waste your time. I've love to have a car built to spec in the $40K range if you think we can do a nice one for that, especially since I wouldn't change the color. Shoot me a PM and let's talk if you are interested.

ARE YOU F-ING KIDDING ME? RUN FOREST, RUN.

You have no idea what a scam this guy is running. My next door neighbor went to his grave while in litigation with that guy over work to be done on a 356. I'll find the link if you need it.

Ask me how I save a friend of a friend who is rennlister Red67 $30,000 on what was suppose to be a pristine long nose. I went down and took it for a spin....total rust bucket. I could see from under the dash out the front of the car.

The guy is just a crook.

A little video put together by Red67 not to long after the above story:

and for some reason I think his name is also Peter S.
