Bob, Ate isn't a good choice for track use, IMO. Motul RBF600 is far superior and only $15-17 per 1/2 liter. Much higher boing points. Most motorcycle shops and places like Porterfield carry it.

I've never actually seen the 993 air deflectors until now, so thanks Ed.

It seems that they do just that, deflect some of the underbody flow to the back side of the rotor. You might want the stock slotted dust shields back on, I don't know. Any form of cooling will definitely help the brakes to absorb more energy.

911tracker, go to "Go Advanced", and click the little paper clip icon, and then upload pics with Manage Attachments. I'd love to hear more about your project. Steve is a brake guru.

A little late obviously, but I'd have rather machined the calipers to fit instead of "butchering" the trailing arm. The typical deal is to weld up one hole and redrill to fit. That also would have zero chance for being out of true to the rotor as opposed to a new bracket being welded on. A 930 caliper machined to fit SC/Carrera bolt spacing would not be reduced in value. A modded trailing arm on the other hand.....

the existing bracket on the std trailing arm is about 3/8 too high to allow the 930 caliper to sit properly on the rotor. too much of the brake pad hangs off the top of the rotor from my pov. i want all the pad riding on the rotor. this set up is the same as the 930. also by leaving the rotor stock, normal repair / replace can be done to the caliper

Default final update

got everything put back together just in time for our track weekend at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC. Brakes are awesome. drove deeper, no fade, great pedal feel. the combination of DOT-R track tires and these brakes allowed me to shave about 8 seconds off my previous best lap time. still lacking some horsepower compared to the newer cars but that will have to wait for next year.
thanks to everyone for your help and guidance
