I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is a repair manual like the bentley manual for 86 to 89 911 turbo? Also can you get porsche repair manuals on cd-rom? Thanks Terry .

I was recently wondering the same thing. I am 2 days away from delivery of my ’86 930(I am seriously psyched!). What seemed like a good idea to me was the Porsche 911 Turbo Factory Workshop Manual(1976-1989) which I saw at Pelican Parts for $135. They also recommend getting the 5 volume Carrera manual for $515-ouch! I figure the Bentley Carrera Manual (1984-1989) would do just as well, and for $96 to boot (now, what can I do with that extra $400???). You should check out the amazon.com site for the customer reviews, which give a full description of the topics covered in the book. As far as manuals on CD, I haven’t come across any , but would be interested in buying it if anyone knows of one. Anybody have any other thoughts?

If I remember, the Porsche 930 turbo supplement goes for around $90 (Call Hendrick Porsche at 800-315-8193 as they discount 20-30%). As a supplement, it assumes you have the rest of the preceding volumes. So, for example, CIS is detailed in Vol. 2 (covers roughly 72-83 911's), so I would expect the turbo supplement only to cover the CIS differences unique to the turbo. If you buy the Bentley 84-89 manual, the section on motronic fuel injection, for example, won't be of any use for your '86. If I were you, I'd buy the Porsche turbo supplement, see what's in there, then decide what else, if anything, to get.
