G50 oil change error? Rookie owner.
Hi everyone,
I was hoping for some advice. I finally bought an '88 3.2 and after a 400 mile drive home in it I thought I'd change the fluids and make sure it's ready for use (it sat for much of 2 years).
The good news is that when I drained the transmission I got nearly 3 quarts out. My motivation for changing it was to see if it improved shifting which is a little notchy. I was going to put in Swepco 201 but after reading on the forum I saw that Redline and Mobil 1 75w/90 were recommended over the Swepco for the G50. Here comes my error: I used a Mobil 1 75w/90 LS Gear oil and I gather this is not correct. At least that's my impression from further research - too slippery, additives harmful to softer internal components?
Currently all I've done is torque up the drain/fill plugs and drive it off the ramps. I was looking for some advice please. I mean, if it turns into a $40 gearbox flush then so be it, I'd hate to damage anything. If it does need changing should I warm the box up on a drive or is even that not recommended?
I gather what I should have bought is Mobil 1 Devlac 75w/90 for transaxles?
I'd appreciate any advice. THANKS!

Like I said earlier in my email. Flush it and order the correct oil from the website I linked.
You better post some pics of that new car or people will get pissed here.

It seems I can't post pictures!? In fact, I'm not sure how I ever made a living in computers because I have no idea how to add a profile pic.
I haven't taken many pics yet. I've either been driving it, working on it or actually working. As my wife gets closer to her delivery date I intend to put some more time in behind the wheel . . . . We're off on vacation next week so I'll try and take some pics before I leave.

You are correct that the 75W90 Delvac is the correct fluid. After much research here and Pelican that is the consensus oil for the G50.
I did a flush using Delvac and shifting is great

I'm struggling with the site still. No doubt it'll come to me as I put in the hours. . .
