Default Stone Guards for SC - Need 'em or not?

After seeing so many "naked" 911's, I removed the black stone guards on my SC. I like the cleaner look. The car hasn't been driven much so I'm wondering if you "naked" 911 owners have a problem with road rash or are you using clear stone guards? Where can I buy clear? Anyone used the magnetic stone guards from Rennline?

If you mean the portion of rear fender behind the door, no need. I've never had a chip there from the road, track, wherever, and I run wider than stock tires and R compound which can pick up crud when they're hot. A turbo would probably be a different story.

The front end is another story. I spent an hour on Sunday doing a round of touch-up. The Palomar hillclimbs are taking a toll. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go lightweight bumpers in the next year with at least a front end respray. I'll probably do the 3m clear cover then.

I had to do touch up in that section. If I had to put a guard I would use the 3M stuff rather than the black ones.

I got a brand new set for my SC because I liked them. Umm, I still have them. Never got around to putting them on before it was sold

I used them because I often ran into less than desirable road conditions. I had purchased two normal turbo rear flair guards and then made my own pattern so that it just wasn't overpowering for SC and Carrera flairs. They worked well, affording the degree of protection I was seeking.

Peter-Thanks for sharing. Very Nice Panel! Dent Empire worked on mine last week. They look new again!

Ed-I really like the clean look now. I've got black "PORSCHE" side decals but I think they'll stay in the box.
