Default 84 motor

Found a local listing for an 84 Targa in which the owner says it has a 3.0 litre motor. My question, were there some early 84's that still had the SC motor? For some reason I seem to recall hearing this before. I've not talked to the owner, and the motor could very well be a transplant too. Just thought I'd ask the experts first.

Either mistyped or he just does not know. I'd assume if he owned the car for 16 years he'd know. Personally, I always proof my work.

That would be a transplant in reverse. Could be a douchy re-seller that doesn't know a thing about the cars.

Well it was a typo. It is a 3.2 with 94k miles. Owner is the 3rd, and has had it for 16 years. bought it with 40k miles on it. He is not a motorhead, but has had it serviced at the right place. Clutch new about 4k miles ago. No engine rebuilds. No trans work that he is aware of, but he says first gear is troublesome to engage at a stop 1 in every 5 times. Stopped and had a walk around by myself, and she's a beauty. Paint reported original, and I believe it. Not a bubble, spiderweb anywhere. Normal rock chips, and light scratches that could be buffed out. Minor dimpling (not quite a dent) that most would not see, but I'm me and have a eye for that (ask the wife). Sport seats are in great shape with minor wear on the drivers left bolster. The worst problem I could find on walk around inspection was the rear speaker deck was curling where it meets the window (owner mentioned this on the phone). Car reportedly leaks some oil while stored over the winter, he estimates a quart or so ( normal amount?) Overall seems like a great candidate especially considering the asking price! It's local to boot which does not happen much at all.

'84 sport seats are fairly light, as folding seats go. I think I weighed them at approx 30-32 pounds or so. They add significant value, imo. Especially since they'd be more than $1K to buy used, and add tremendously to the feel and feedback compared to power seats.

Douchy. Urban dictionary suggests...A person that is being difficult or just plan(plain?) stank.

Probably a fitting term for any re-sellers, especially the ones using the term "high-line cars"
