Yeah, I used to hang with them when I had my '81. This was before Rog got into the business. I have a good friend who recently picked up an '89 S4 and introduced him to the gang.

As the saying goes, they are a better class of losers.

I say that in jest. They are all good friends who gave me a 928 wing with all of their signatures on it when we left, and instated me as a lifetime member of the DFW 928 Gang.

What I used to do with my spare was to inflate it occasionally, spray it with a good rubber preservative, maybe put some baby powder on it (good for rubber seals, too) and then take the valve out of it and collapse it back. These things stay in pretty good shape if you check them periodically. It's far better than the spare I have today! (none!)

Andy,
I also drive all over rural Texas in my ’87. Heck, I’m in rural Texas the minute I get to the end of the driveway. I have all of the items mentioned. Thankfully, I have never had to use any of them. The two other things I never hit the road without are my cell phone and my AAA card!

Edgy, what do you use? I have used Wurth Rubber Care and like it. Also Gummi Pflege (sp?) is ok but I use that on hoses and door seals mostly.

Thanks guys! I'm preparing for the PCA 13th annual Boxstoberfest on September 10-12 in Fredericksburg, TX and you are all welcome to come. It's a 250 mile drive thru some of the best "twisties" in Texas. There is a "fun-run" tour, a spirited drive and an extended trip (310 miles). Last year we had 162 attendees in 92 Porsches, 50% were Boxsters. Check out Boxsterfest.com for more detail.

I have used those products as well as simple silicon spray (safe for rubber). The real trick is the baby powder. Does a great job.
