I have owned my 85 targa twice. after having to sell and a little over a year later where I could get another Pcar, I also looked at 964s but 993 out of my price range.
just had to go back to a Carerra 3.2 and Targa. in Cincinnati I do not get to run top-off as much as socal, but still love that experience. and for me the Targa open top experience along with the look/lines of the Targa over the Cab is my preference. and the visibilty in the Targa with top on is way better than the claustrophobic feeling of a Cab.
the guy who bought my targa had bought a newer turbo coupe and was selling.
as my wife said when I brought it home, "Well... the bitch is back"
good luck on the quest.

I have a coupe (with a sunroof), perfect for Alberta, but I have recently been contemplating adding a Targa to the fleet. I really like the missing roof to ad to the drive, we have the 442 for a completely topless ride but the Targa is very cool.

Having had one of each over the decades I am in the position to appreciate each for their various attributes. As a home-owner in Southern California, the cabriolet is the best of all worlds. (Especially with a hard top for it).

I've just this week bought a Targa - my second of them. As a driver for SoCal, I think they're awfully hard to beat. Yes, the tops can leak. But I rarely had the top on my previous car. When it had to be on, I was willing to put up with a bit of wind noise and water leakage because I know how great these things are when the top is peeled off. I'm stoked - can't wait to get my new old car - it's an '82 - registered, insured and then serviced so I can begin enjoying it.

nil better...for us, top down winter drive heater full on and stones blasting on the audio.
2 verts / cabs i have had were tight rattle free,
no question however maintenance costs are higher & especially as reported by targa guys leaks can be an ongoing issue
