I was/am very proud of this pic....
no touch up, just a point and click.....my 99' but it still has a nice crest...
Promise to give the 86' crest some love (my shoulder is sore from detail, but that crest is small... I can do it !!)

What can I contribute...My camera bit the dust, but I have a few shabby crests to share. I really like a crest in the steering wheel, and to me, the small crest(full color)on the lighted key fob is part of classic Porsche ownership. My 924S has the cool little crest on the glove box latch that swing to the side to expose the key lock. And, of course, the center caps. I have several old hood crests laying around, one of which I snipped the mounting studs off of and stuck to an adhesive backed magnet and graces my tool box. I will get some pics when I get a camera. I also have a really cool Waterford crystal beer glass that has an etched crest in it that I toast special occasions with. It was given to me by the factory when I attended a training course in Atlanta. More to come as I stream consciousness on this one.
Thanks w00t.
Autarky - sweet avatar, I've seen a Vern Schuppan 962 and they are amazing. I knew one of the 962s that was converted for street use.

Nice picture Dan. Thank you. It does not look like a 997 badge as it is embossed. I wish they did not make the badge so flat and smooth on these
997's.
You are welcome. I am glad you are enjoying this series. I will post a picture of the smooth badge on my 997.2 when I get home today.
What a nice read. Thanks WB.
997's.

Off the 997. The smooth badges are really impossible to photograph--just finished off with coating of plastic.

Phew! I was getting worried. I mean with two scoops and no Fuchs, was my car really a Porsche? But, I still have the crest, so all is well.
Thought for a future icon - the "thunk" my 26 year old 911 still makes when I close the door. Love that sound! It's as distinctly Porsche as the wail of a flat six at red-line.

Rusnak, what a beautiful shot. Unbelievable....goosebumps all the way with that side by side comparison shot. Kudos for that thoughtful picture. Do you like the silver more than the gold. May be the silver would work better on some exterior paints (like silver) compared to gold. Anyway thank you for that excellent contribution. Also others who view this thread can write something that they like about the part or what that particular part means to them. Or have they even felt that it was truly an iconic part. C'mon say something that will just add to the fun and give these series that much more special meaning with interaction from all the current (or previous)classic 911 owners. After all this is just a very celebration series and every little contribution is important. Anything written here is meaningful not just nice pictures (although that would be even more cool) and any historical facts.

You are killing me here giving away all my future topics on this series. Do not worry I am sure your (and the rest of us) 911 will have atleast 3 or 4 of the icons that I think are symbolic of a classic 911. Anyway I am glad you are enjoying these threads. So am I.

Woot, thank you for the comments. The background is actually Silver-Blue Metallic, and matches the 911 body color. The top is silver, as is the Stuttgart lettering.
I have been procrastinating looking through my hard discs for stuff, but I have contributions planned for the Fuchs and possibly the headlights thread. Most of my files are of a technical nature, and no where near aesthetically up to par with your Icons threads. I think the Icons threads SHOULD be beautiful, and have beautiful shots in them.

Ed, badge still looks in great shape ...did not realize your '86 coupe had that many miles on it. That's very impressive how well it drove despite all that miles.
