Just bought a 90 911 targa about a month ago. This past weekend, I sat in the passenger side seat for the first time. I can not begin to tell you how hot the air was coming from under the dash. It got hotter as we drove at higher speeds.
IS THIS NORMAL?
Please advise.

No, it is not normal. Was it a hot day? Could be some sort of fresh air vent. Otherwise, since the only other major source of heat is way in the back, it sounds like the heater is malfunctioning. C2/C4's heating systems are supposed to be quite different from my 3.2, so I'm not sure where to start looking.

Mark,
I have the same problem in my 87, but have not fixed it. On my car the flapper box valve does not close all the way which causes warm air to make its way to the footwell in the cabin. The higher the revs, the more hot air is forced through the system. If the valve was working right, the warm air would be expelled out the underside of the car.
You could have a problem with your heater controls, but my first guess would be a problem with the flapper box valve. These can rust over time and get stuck.

thank you. I contacted the previous owner and this is what he told me :
"You need to adjust the a/c-heat levers and/or hit the re-circ button.... had an issue before (vent stuck) had it
fixed at Jack Daniels, they changed the duct also"
