I was going to blame the 10%-15% ethanol fuel, but Canada is smarter than that I hope?

I think the difference could be that I had a pretty good load on the motor, climbing a hill in second gear approaching 6K. The only hiccup I got was when I first let off, and it seemed like it wanted to idle. But when I kicked it again, she was finished. I may've sucked up whatever fuel/pressure that was in the rails pretty quickly, if indeed I'm on the right track.

Good luck Ed. At least it seems like you're not doubting the engine build, so that's definitely a good thing. Keep your chin up.

I've had loss of power twice in mine, once was the fuel pump relay coming loose, the other was the fuel filter got clogged. Hope it's an easy fix for you too!

You've forgotten more than I'll ever know about these but it does have all the indicators of a fuel problem. I went through mine last spring. Fuel pump. Quit in the paddock.

Turned out to be just a sneeze, no flu virus after all.

Let's start with forgetting about me trying to determine whether fuel pressure in the rail is right by eyeballing it when it is static. I'm pretty useless, or it is absolutely futile, it would seem.

I did a quick jumper of the fuel pump to ensure it was operating. While it was humming, I cracked a fuel line-it seemed to have gobs of fuel under pressure.

So, I am standing there determining where I'm going to start when I get back from France and poking my head and hand around looking for problems. As I'm pulling my arm up from the bulkhead area where I'm checking vaccum lines and such, I knocked the CHT connector off. I plugged it back in, and voila!

I'd not put the retainer clip on that connector, and it had backed off enough to break contact, while still perched in the proper position on the mating plug. I guess that's why Porsche was forward thinking enough to provide the clips. This was a new CHT sensor, and I guess the plugs don't snap as surely these days into its mate as the last one did.

I've not had any of the clips on any of the DME plugs (throttle position, throttle stop, etc) for years since I pulled the engine for a clutch job in '04 or so. Guess it's time to get them back on. After I get back from Le Mans, of course. Now, I'll be able to take it all in without being haunted by Ruby sitting at home, broken.

Uhhh, nope. From what I understand, all over BC the gas pumps have stickers that indicate that the lowest octane grade has ethanol. I haven't noticed any in Alberta yet, but I haven't really been paying attention, either.

Glad to hear your problem is solved, Ed. Makes it easier to enjoy your holiday without having that floating around in the back of your mind.

It is indeed a two wire part.

Well, I got to do the quick blast up the mountain that was interrupted yesterday. A few cars out, but I was able to do some more work on seating the rings.

The exact same thing happened to "CSMAB" a few months ago. CHT plug came loose.

Glad to see it was something simple.

V-power is Shell's premium grade. It's only the lower (est?) grade that gets the ethanol at all the stations.

Awsome Ed, right on, I know what its like to go away with an issue like that at home while i'm gone, this will indeed make the whole trip easier.

Cheers,
