Default Other fire extinguisher mount options

Have the Rennline extinguisher and mounting bracket installed on passanger side seat on the '88. Nicely made but it sticks out too far and my favorite passanger (wife) is not happy. I have been told that DE instructors do not like the extinguishers mounted on drivers side. Checking into that with local club.

My question does anyone know of a different off the shelf mounting bracket that would get the extinguisher off the back of the seat or on the tunnel?

My shop said they could use the Rennline bracket, maybe need to weld a piece in and then hang off the back of the seat.

Just curious what others may have done.

Thanks!

Tried to pick an available number that would be "easy" with blue painters tape. The first event they had me as 17Z... So then started to try to do the 2 differently.

This picture captured the" better " looking side and if you look closely yes those are snow flakes. It was the last autocross last season and our run group finished with some snow which for a newbie made for some fun driving!

Ended up buying some black magnetic numbers for this year which will look a little less artistic.

Griots Garage used to have a chrome release mount that could mount anywhere, but I think they have changed their stock dramatically. Lots of less expensive stuff now.

Back when I was active on Pelican, we did a thread on different fire extinguisher mounting solutions. I'd say that was maybe two years ago.

I have a halon mounted in it's standard bracket on the passenger side of the tunnel. It's not in the passenger's way at all, AND it is VERY accessible. You just gotta be careful drilling the holes.

Thanks everyone for the post.

Ed - Did you just use sheet metal screws after you drilled pilot holes? Any pictures?

Thanks
Rob

Before you drill holes. Look at using the screws that hold the shift coupler inspection cover on. I drilled my extinguisher bracket to line up with a couple of those screws on both my 1970 and 1972 911s. it was out of the way but I could reach between the seats and grab it without much trouble.

Mine is mounted on the floor behind the passenger seat, in a DIY bracket. I'm tall and can reach it easily. No one has ever questioned it.

I have a Stable Energies, but it's not in the car at the moment.

That is what I did. I may have pics on my computer at home, but I'm travelling most of the week.

That is a great idea and I'll look at that in the morning! On the '88 the cover is covered by the carpeting so I just didn't think of doing that. I think I have seen someone post a picture of a similar solution on the 912 site... inspection cover on the older cars is above the carpeting.

May have a Rennlist bracket for sale soon...

Thanks!
