DME removal
I am stilling having stalling issues (Stalling while running....yes I replaced the DME relay)after replacing the Flywheel sensors. Next try is the DME. Am I right in assuming I have to take the seat off? Is it easy to remove the DME cover to look for solder problems? Can an inexperienced solderer do the job if there is a job to do. It has **** chip and I learned that solder maybe the problem.
Or should I just send the DME unit in to be tested? thanks, Dwight Johnson in the U.P.

Dwight,
You should be able to open up your DME yourself,it's not that hard of a job as i opened mine up last Summer when i installed a Steve Wong chip.
Just take your time and be careful not to damage the ribbon wire and you'll be fine
Cheers !

I pulled my DME with the power seats in. You need to remove 4 nuts with washeds and one other nut holding the wire harness. Put the seat all the way and and til the front up. Its still a pain but with some light to see its not horrible
Then the actusl Dme is opened my bending 10 tabs back. The it gets tricky. You can bend and damage the boards which "might" have happened wheb the chip was installed. I have zero experiance with soldering these things and if I needed work done on mine I would send it out for sure
PM me your email and I will send a doc of how to open it up

I've updated mine by doing some soldering per some instructions from Steve a few years ago, but it isn't fun, IMO. I'd send it out for test/repair. Too many things for you to screw up if it is something simple now.

If the windows act funny or the car continues to run after the key is shut off, then you could have a bad switch. There are a lot of places that can test your dme, and do the repairs. 911chips.com has a nice picture sequence on opening up the DME. I have sport seats, so every time I want to even look under the seat, the seat has to come out.
