Everyone says the same thing, "whats up with those phone dials?" And then they see the car and say, "wow, those phonies look awesome!" They are the 16" version (stock were 15") and with the white/black combo of the car, the matte aluminum finish with the colored crests look incredible. Some people like to zig while the rest of the world zags!

On '84-86 911s, 15" phone dials were the standard wheels. You don't see them often on 911s because dealers almost always ordered the cars with 15" or 16" Fuchs alloys.

Whalebird...good suggestion; find me a set and I'll buy'em. As for the "phonies," the literature I have suggests that the 15" phone dial wheels were standard with the car however the dealers had the option of the 15" Fuchs; 16" Phone dials or Fuchs were considered an upgrade....again based on my reference material.

would make sense to me based on the size of the wheel.. a bigger wheel is considered an upgrade, maybe in handling but necesarily in looks.
I am in the same boat with my 17" cups as in my avatar. At the time it was the only 17"wheel i could get that even looked half decent, and with high performance rubber on it far out performs my Fuchs when it comes to handling. But there is nothing that looks better than my Fuchs on my car.

That's a nice looking car. I kinda like the phone dials as well because they were not commonly seen, even back in the day. Not everyone shares my enthusiasm for them, though.
I have a set of 7 & 9x16 Fuchs (the ones on my car in the avatar) coming up for sale soon that would look killer on that car, as an alternate look.

While I don't remember any customer cars coming with them in that era, pretty much every '86 944 Turbo came with them.
Glad I'm hoarding Fuchs. Amazing to believe the 4 9's I still have sitting around cost me about $100/ea......
