This is my first post, and hopefully my only post demonstrating this amount of unsophistication.
I just bought a midnight blue 993. What is the best way of keeping it clean? (And maintaining the paint on a long term basis). Do you wash with just water, or some sort of commercial cleaning product. Is wax necessary? I've seen some new rain dance product that claims to wash and wax at the same time. Is this any good?
Thanks - I promise to post more intelligently in the future.

Steve,
Here is a link to Pelican Parts' tech articles web site. Look down the page to "Exterior" and you will see several articles about washing and waxing.

I use P21S Body Conditioning Shampoo in cool water.
Regards, Bruce

I second carcareonline.

The best advice I've received is to use a rinse bucket for your wash mit/sponge/brush and to change the water in this bucket frequently. This helps keep the dirt out of your wash water and off of the car. This, along with the use of a quality shampoo and wax product will go a long way to maintaining your car (FWIW, I'm a big fan of the Zymol product line). I wash my cars once a week (whether driven or not) and wax once a quarter. Might be a little ****, but your car should be washed and waxed on a regular basis.
Congrats on the new ride!
