Front inner tire rub help
I am getting tire rub on the hoses that run on the inside wheel well on drivers side and on the innser chassis on the drivers side. And, rubbing on the passenger side inner wheel well/chassis......on hard right turns. (was getting fender lip rub but I rolled those)
The car has Bilstein Sports, 22/28 mm torsions, 22mm F/R sways, turbo tie rods, bump steer kit, and is lowered. Also, 6" Fuchs up front with 205/55/16 tires.
I think the hoses are getting rubbed becuase the car was lowered and the hoses were actually hanging a little low; I was able to lift them up higher into the fender.
What I am more concerned about is that the wheels turn so much that they hit the innder body. (There is an arc on the inner wheel well). The DS has a small arc on the front and the PS has a larger arc on the rear-it happens on right turns. Are 911's supposed to be able to turn so much that they hit the car's inner body?
The suspension work was just recently done and I haven't had the car aligned or corner balanced yet, as I wanted to set the general ride height first. The height at fenders is currently 25" in front and 24" in rear. Should I continue to play around with the height or just take it to a pro? I was concerned about having them set the height and alignment and then finding that it still rubs.
Any advice?

Todd,
Its not unusual to see a little rubbing in the front fender wells (behind the tire) at full lock, however you should not have tire contact with the oil hoses in the rear with the stock range of wheels (7 through 9x16) and OEM-size tires.
I would make certain that the hoses are properly secured to the inner fenders.

Thanks. But , to clarify, there is no rubbing in the rear wheels. The "rear" rubbing was in the PS front wheel well, at the rear.
The hoses that were rubbed were aong the top of the DS wheel well. Not sure what those are, looks like a fuel overflow from the filler door and some other smaller ones.

Assuming stock Fuchs for a 911 and proper camber, I'd not think you'd have a huge issue with 205's on 6" wheels. Also assuming everything is anchored as it should be. Also, how low is it?

i run 225/45/17 on the front. The car was lowered 30mm F&R and i have rub at lock as you do. no lines or hoses are getting rubbed however... get it checked out by a pro!

It has the stock 6" Fuchs with 205's up front. It was sitting too low, 24" at first. Now its up to 24 3/4" at fender arch and it seems to be OK as far as the hoses but still hits the inner body on full lock.
Only the tabs for mounting the the stock sway bars on the control arms were removed , as it now has the through -body Weltmeisters. Otherwise, it should not be missing parts. I suppose its probably time to get it aligned and looked at by the pros.

smart racing has a product called a turning radius limiter. Cars with larger tires sometimes use them to allow for the tire clearance. They have two models, one for 29 mm shaft and the other for a 30 mm shaft. They run about $30 each and two are required. If you continue to find the rubbing annoying this could be a solution to your problem. As I think I said earlier, I get tire rub and live with it because I'm not locking that often. Either way, rub or no rub, this may be a solution to your problem. Good luck Chuck
