Ivangene that is very kind of you...PM sent. Thank you very much. I would love to see you on Sunday. We certainly should shoot some pics of the 3.2 meeting the 997.2 and post it for fellow rennlisters.

Ivangene, That is VERY VERY nice of you. Thanks for making the community a better place with your generocity. Please post pics. If I were there, I'd buy both of you a beer(only if I can drive it too)LOL

Agree on the fact that the G50 is a piece of the tranny evolution, from the 915. An evolution, it was,..and, in the improved direction. If someone walked up to me with those trannies, free of charge,..I'd pick the G50, for sure. I know this is a bit simplistic, and not anyone's case here.
I would never say a properly functioning 915 box is bad (geeze) ...and, TRUE, that box requires proper (maintenance & technique) attention to yield it's designed results....which is quite fine. As does the G50 box, albeit less.
The 3.2 is great! My 89 gives plenty of visceral feedback,..fun driving it.....she responds......very, very unique....
,..but getting into (just driving a few) a 99x series was a frikin' eye opener to me, as to power........I instantly wondered about the process of (properly) learning THAT beast and smiled......I wondered what it would be like to have both car models......like drinking fine wine,...varied selection (evolutions).....all "tasting" a bit differently......selections from the cellar, if you will.......
It's just cool to note the OP's original state and proposed goal (heading backwards in production),..and noting the differences as he heads there,......I wish it were me........
Great read...
Did I mention that RUSH is touring this (and next) year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best,
to all,
Doyle
