Default 84' Targa Supersport

I have a friend that just bought one and who will soon be joining the board. He has blk / blk, but the dash and the top portion of the door sills are a burgundy color. Why is that???

Or, maybe those needed replacement or recover, and that is the color they ended up. My guess is that won't show up on the options codes. A special color combo would probably only be noted in the build records.

Here is a pic of his car. Does this have the super sport option? From what I understand, the 84' SS opion is the whale tail, wide rear, upgraded brakes and suspension. Is the rear wide or did somebody just put a whale tale on her?

I thought it was only called "supersport" in the UK, Here it's usually considered a "wide Body" or "turbo look"

But that is a regular narrow body with the Carrera tail, that is not a widebody (M491)

That's what I thought, the tail was an add on. If you go to wikipedia and look up porsche 911, it doesnt reference the UK when explaining that option.

Thats a turbo tail, not a Carrera tail - the car, not the avatar.

I actually drove the car for the first time this weekend. Wow what a difference my mine, but simply in a different "level of pleasure" way.
It was a blast to drive

I never knew that that era had no power brakes or steering! The brakes felt really foreign to me. I am suprised at the no power, when did everything go power?

Looks like a nice 84 Targa with a Turbo tail added. I have never heard of a "Supersport" option in the US. The M451 is the Turbo look option with Turbo suspension, Turbo tail, wide body etc. Hopefully, he didn't pay for an "option" that doesn't exist?

Correct, after further research the SS option was the name in the UK and the "turbo look" was US.
He didn't pay extra for the option, I think he actaully stole the car for $15k w/ only 71k on the clock. Car is very clean and tight in and out.
