Default Central locking for a 85 Carrera

Is it a lot of work to install central locking in a 1985 Carrera?

Anybody knows where i can get all of the parts?

I don't know if you can retrofit a system from a later car, if that's what you're asking, but you can probably get that functionality out of an alarm system installation. Go to one of your local mobile audio stores. they should be able to help you.

To install such a system is quite simple. I did this to my 1981 car many years ago. All you need are two lock actuators which need to be installed inside the door panels and run off 12V. I got my kit for this from a German catalog eons ago, so I can't give you a current link. The work to do it is simple.

My 1985 Cabriolet had central locking as standard equipment. Your car should have a lock button at the center console. The factory system is quite complicated with a central lock module at the passenger side under the dash. It has a harness with something of 12 wires which include input from interior lighting or so. Aftermarket item is much simpler but most of them do not have a switch. You should check if you have that black box/CL module and perhaps you just need the box.

To the original poster - if you ever do figure this out, either with the factory parts or with an aftermarket solution, please do let us know.
