You won't get a CPO if a Porsche dealer isn't selling it, as ice said. You'll have the get an aftermarket warranty, if you want coverage.

Yes,the Honda dealer is in New Jersey! I've been advised here by Gota911,if I'm not mistaken,to get them to work out a deal with the Porsche dealer that did the PPI for me and get them to give CPO in this price. I know it's a long shot, but Gota911 told me it's been done before...I doubt I'll get it...

I spoke with the Honda dealer and the Porsche dealer that did the PPI and they can't work out a deal to sell it CPO for me,but the Honda dealer offered me an Extended Warranty for 2 years from Honda or they can get it for me thru Porsche, but it would cost more and they wouldn't be able to give me a break on the price of the deal. Also,I did speak with the Service Advisor from Porsche and he told me everything about it: he said that the car checks out,no damage,no RMS issues,no leaks, well maintained. He told me that the DME shows no values that can be recorded. I'm going to post what it says soon. Any advice?

better off asking the 996 boys really, they really know there cars like we know ours .. I have heard lots of troubling things about this engine . but i am sure 95% of them are fine .. do you feel lucky ?

I would walk on principle at this point , they aren't doing anything for you and if you want warranty your buying it yourself really.
I would suggest going and buying a nice relaible 993 or Carrera ..

Honda cannot CPO the car. It has to be thru the dealer. The Honda guys are going to try and sell you an "aftermarket" warranty. Don't buy it. I suggest a warranty for sure to protect your investment. I have had to deal with extended/aftermarket warranty people before and they are an unsavory crowd, often not covering or partially covering the claim. After dealing with these several of these companies, one stood out of the crowd remarkably.

I made many high dollar claims as a tech/shop forman to this company and never had a problem. With a car like this, go for the top tier warranty package - you can buy it yourself direct from them or thru a "dealer". it may take two grand to get the best coverage, but you will go thru that with no problem on the first trip to the shop.
I reluctantly endorse this company, I just don't like warranty companies, but these people paid me a lot of money and never asked a question. They seemed willing at the time to take care of their customers and never short changed my labor rate.
Do some research before you take the dealership garbage warranty. I can't stand dealerships.

I'd be asking myself 'Do I want to buy a car from a dealer that can't even put a license plate frame on the right way up?' - but I am picky.

For what its worth I had a nice hassle free experience with Catena in Edison - they let me try several cars with no pressure tactics.

Thank goodness my 'Gotta have it, gotta have it ' days are behind me

That DME report looks like Greek in this thread. Were more of the dyno-graph, corner weight, tire temp, lap time kinda guys. All that can be reset with the push of a button, I would be looking for collision damage for sure. How much tire tread is left?

I'd love to hear what my DME would say if it could talk. It would say "Schnell, Schnell!".

Hey Whalebird! The Porsche dealer that did the PPI on this car says no collision damage and they don't give you a procentage on the tire thread, they just have a chart where they put all 4 tires and they said that they check out, which in Porsche's language means that they have more than 50% thread left. Thanks.

Who trades in a 997 for a HONDA??? I think thats the first question you have to ask yourself...2nd question is...If the used car manager bought this car at an auction - it means that the local Porsche Dealer passed on it..for a good reason...get a paint meter out and see if the car has been painted or hit. 3rdly...an aftermarket warranty from a Honda dealership wont do you much good when you go to get it serviced at a Porsche store...the aftermarket warranty people are in the business of making money..not spending it and will fight you every step of the way on a warranty repair...in the end..you'll end up spending the majority of the money on the repair..not the warranty company.

Now if you want to buy a Honda...I'm sure they're the right dealer for you! I cant imagine what the prior owner got on a trade if the car is indeed a trade-in....maybe 3 Accords? 6 Civics??

Do yourself a favor...go to a reputable Porsche dealership...spend a few extra grand and get a solid car wtih a CPO and enjoy...a little more money spent now is cheap insurance for the future.

Either way..hope you find what you're looking for!

Damien
