Post Price on front spoiler and install kit?

I am in need of a front spoiler and installation kit for my 86 Carerra. I wanted to use my PCA gift certificate so I called the dealer and he told me that the part costs around $400! Everywhere else I have seen this part the price is ~$225.

Is there really that much of a difference in part prices?

Does anyone have the part number for this piece to verify he was quoting me the spoiler and not the front valence?

Also, are there dealers that are associated with Rennlist and/or PCA that would sell parts more reasonably and still honor the gift certificate?

Thanks!

Ummm... Yes there is. It pays to shop around. I've seen them advertised in Excellence for ~$250.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi..please identify yourself in a private mailing. I see from your sig that you're in Buffalo. I'm in Orchard Park, just wondering if we crossed paths.
BTW...some outfits like Vertex advertise the front spoiler for $189 or so....

If your talking about the front chin spoiler yes they sell for around $250 + $55 associated fittings.

I've looked around at most of the suppliers and they are about the same.

Depending upon whether you need to buy other items as well, this will usually sway you to one supplier vs another.

I've got an order going in for this and other stuff next week.

Cheers
Mark

Call Kenn at Reeves Porsche at 800-835-9256 x299. They discount 20%-30% and will honor the certificate with discounted prices. Brumos in FL will also knock of 20% when using the PCA Certificate - they have an ad in this months Excellence. Others have mentioned Vertex. Don't forget they have a 3% credit card fee and their shipping includes a handling fee, so check total price.

Wil, I have sent you a private message.

Bill and Mark, thank you. I am starting to lean toward a 930S front valence/spoiler which I can get for around the same price AND it cleans up the front end of my Carrera quite nicely.

Of course make sure the 930S front valance will match up to your narrow body (as compared to a 930) front fenders. And if it's fiberglass vs polyurethane vs metal may have different considerations for scraping on the ground or slightly bumping a curb.

Thanks Bill, I was looking at the narrow body varient. I would prefer polyurethane, do you know of anyone who makes these in polyurethane. I have looked at GT racing, rennspeed and one other company that you have mentioned in the past, but they are all fiberglass.

Also, consider the part from Fiberwerks in Fla. ( don't have address handy). They make a nice looking front end, and it's made of FRP..not quite fibergalss, not quite poly...maybe a nice compromise. Looks stunning, IMHO.
As you, I would also like to know if someone makes poly parts instead of fiberglass. As it is, the RUF front piece is nice , but is a "no go" at $1200 (!)

Check with RUF. I know their bottom below the bumper piece is polyurethane. Their entire front piece, which replaces the bumper, may or may not be PU. I'd ask. Yes, RUF is more expensive, but it doesn't crack and splinter like fiberglass. I can show you a picture on my SC that had lots of scrapes due to the SC being quite low, and the front valance was still in perfect condition. I just periodically redid the black paint on the lower lip (Rustoleum flat black)

Thumbs up

Thanks guys, the RUF is out of my wife's budget so I need to keep the costs down. I will try fiberwerks and see what I can find there.

Thanks! <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

Wil, the rennlist mail system shows that the message was sent but not read. I also tried your e-mail address at cs.com which also did not work. Drop me a line at marc_romanowski@hotmail.com

FYI...I recently bought a factory chin spoiler from Vertex for $219. Mounting hardware kit was $39 (a lot of $ for a bag of brackets, nuts and bolts).

On further review, who can I call about RUF parts? I have seen weisach.com and stephania parts, is there anyone else?
