Default 1987 Slantnose or Keep 996TT

I have had my 03 TT for about three years now. I love everything about it. Two DEs and I am hooked on open track. Always have my eyes open for used slantnose for track use. There are three I have my eye on in the current market. What I am interested in is the operating costs between the two. New to the track experience and wanting to keep moving forward with it, I feel the 996 TT will cost much more in the long run. Even though it feels and I have heard it's bulletproof, I want to maintain a reality check here.

Would you swap out of a 996TT to an older model track prepped car?

No. which is my short answer. But if you want to become a better track driver an older track prepared turbo car will make you become one. Not nearly as forgiving as a 996tt.
