Refreshing a stored 87 911: advise
I bought a gorgeous "stored" one owner 911 cab this weekend after an exhausting search. The car has only 9200 miles since new. The previous owner, while not a collector stored it very meticulously in a temp controlled garage, moved it regularly and started it 4x/year, allowed it to warm up and drove it a little. Sounds great but I want to "awaken" the car properly. I suspect I should change the oil a couple of times, flush the break lines, all the fluids ect.
I could use some advise on the best way to proceed. I do plan to drive the car regularly.
Thanks

Holy barn find, Batman!
I'll let others chime in, but off the top of my head, I'd probably add wheel bearing re-pack, maybe a cv joint re-pack, ac system recharge if you can get R-12, run some Techron in the gas, change fuel filter, and drive it. Buy a spare dme relay, oil pressure light switch, and new Mahle oil filters.

New suspension bushings all around. After sitting most of its life, they're probably egg-shaped.
There's hardly a wear item on the car that won't need attention, but she sure is nice.

Great advise!! I would not have thought of a lot of those things, particularly the bushings. I appreciate it. I think Father time has been kind to this car but some things are unavoidable.

Any chance you can post a picture of the emergency brake handle? I am trying to figure out whether our cars came with any type of leather boot on them or not.
Thanks,

PPI = pre purchase inspection
Great buy, you should check the dates on the tires if they are more than 5-7 years old you should replace them.

Thanks for the comments. PPI: no issues to speak of.. tires new in 08 per porsche service recommendation. Over the past ten years it has been driven 1100 miles and been serviced at the porsche dealer seven times for oil changes and lubrication. In 2000 it had a hood prop rod replaced by the dealer. Other than that, no issues. I feel lucky for sure! Funny thing is, I was looking for a 993 coupe when I ran across this car. I couldn't resist the 1 owner, low miles aspect. Coming from a strong motorcycling (BMW GS, DUCATI) background, I think the open top will be fun. I will post more pics and a ride report when it arrives from the East coast.

Do you mind me asking what you paid for the car as I have never even seen one advertised for sale with that low mileage? You can PM with the price if you are not comfortable just putting it out there for all to see.

I have no advice as I am looking for that 'special' car as well.
I would however like to know how and what kind of searching led you to such an awesome find....or was it perhaps luck ?
Like redcarman, if possible I too would like to get idea of price paid so I can gauge pricing also....PM is fine or of you don't care to share I understand.

How did I find it??? My wife would say "obsessive compulsive disorder" !
Actually, I was keeping an eye on CL and ebay plus talking to the known purveyors of fine porsches.... then I found autotrader.com . Holy cow! 300 911's. Mostly tired cars in need of a lot of love. I called on the better sounding ones, even the ones over my budget. Lord knows I have caved in on selling some bikes I knew were worth more than they were offering. In the end, I found a motivated seller of a very nice car. I don't want to disclose the price publicly but it was fair for me... think NADA classic car book.
I can't wait to give a road test report to you guys.. Idaho roads are twisty to say the least. Great fun as long as the Moose and deer stay out of the way!

Sorry to pile on, but I would be curious to know approximately what price you paid also. I am planning on selling my 85 Carrera and would like an idea of the market. PM if you want.
