Need advice: should I go for this look?
So, I've posted something earlier, asking how you guys feel about adding a ducktail and scripts to my black Targa. The consensus seemed I should go with something stealthy looking that goes with the black.
I decided to make a 3D mock up of what my car might look like after adding a ducktail and scripts.
What do you guys think? Should I go for this look? (the "Carrera" font is temp, haven't really settled on what that should be)
Thanks,
Marlon

I've thought about doing the same thing with my white Targa..... Using white scripts (maybe matte finish) for an embossed look like the Porsche Design Boxster and adding a duck tail.....
I really like the stealthy look on your design as I prefer an understated appearance

Some things come to my mind:
1. The script should be the typical Carrera font.
2. I go back and forth on racing stripes on Porsches-if these are a "ghost color", they may work.
3. Are you going with fender flares too?
4. Ducktails do not work well on Targas.

I personally think the car in your avatar looks great just the way it is. But if you're looking for a change and a tail is something you want to add, I think the Carrera tail may be a better choice than a duck tail on a targa.

I'm not a big fan of stripes on Porsches but the darker ones look nice. I agree with Ed, Carrera font or go home,
On the tail, considering I'm not a big fan of tails (see my avatar), I see tails out of place on Targas and Cabs. I think they unbalance the look of the car. And since we all know that Targas make horrible track cars then you don't need the functionality of the whale tail. I think the duck tail is the way to go.

I switched from Whale to Duck on my Targa and it looked great (inspired by Ed's among others). I like the stripes but am so-so on the scripts (in general).

Just my personal opinion ...since you asked.
For Targas, I prefer no tail. Just something about the lines and the rear glass it looks better w/o adornment for my taste. But if you're desiring a tail, I'd go with a carrera one. I like the duck tail but only on the long-hood cars. On the impact bumper cars it just doesn't look right to my eyes.

I kind of like the center stripes, but I would not do both the stripes and the script. It's too much.
Tinted windows make the car look like a drug dealer's car. I feel like a gangster with mine, but I put up with it because we have nuclear blast type of heat here in the summer. It might look either really awesome or really pimped out on your black car.
I think the duck tail would look awesome, especially if the proportions are rounded out with 9" Fuchs or Fuchs replicas. You can move the 7" to the front wheels, and add a chin spoiler. That would be a nice look.

I'm big into form. The first thing that caught my eye was the turn signals on the fenders.............
Not my favorite. Second, take it easy on the flared fenders. To much is.........well........to much.
If I remember correctly the Ruf yellowbird didn't do huge flares and look how fast it was. So if Ruf didn't think it necessary then who are we?
I'm Switzerland on the tale. I've seen Eds duck tail in person and I liked it. The duck on a Targa is not over the top. If it were a coupe I would go either way, Carrera or duck.
