New addition - not Porsche tho.
Just added a new car (to me) to the stable.
It's not a P-Car but it is from the same town.
I was lucky enough to have a crack at this absolutely mint 1991 300 SE at a great price.
It was part of an estate sale and came to me through a close friend.
The Germans sure do make a fine automobile.

Three Wheelin'
They don't build them like that anymore. That's a keeper! They cheapened the materials up when the had to lower the prices to compete with Lexus- a shame really as these things were like bank vaults. I still love the looks of these cars...

+1 andrew911. Benz could not afford to build them like that anymore. Imagine, an 83 300d turbo diesel was a $50k car - in 83. The 126 (S-class) during that same era carried into the early 90s along with the same superb craftsmanship. The finest engineered car in the world. I've always wanted an early 90s 560SEL with reclining/heated rear seats. What a machine: VERY powerful, highest degree of luxury available in a production car...they will run 130 all day with 4 people in comfort. The 300 (6 cyl) car is not far off. It may not have the torque-monster V8 and long wheelbase, but they move around in traffic better than one would expect. Mine would be dark blue with palamino interior.
irobertson: I think that car will grow on you. Find a good Benz shop and have it gone thru. You can get hundreds of thousands of miles with just basic maintenance and repairs. The motor (103 designation) will usually develop front cover leaks, motor/trans mounts, occasional water pump, and be sure to have all the suspension up to par for premium ride/handling. Stick with factory, genuine, Mercedes shocks as they are a big part of the ride quality - no aftermarket junk, not even Bilsteins or Boge. You will have fun I suspect. Keep us posted and more pics!

Nice score on a jewel of a car. I have a 1990 300SE that I purchased last year from the original owner with 115,000 miles. I am getting to love the car more as I own it. I feel that the 1990/1991 S Class cars are the best Mercedes produced. They are the last owner serviceable models, were the last designed without cost as the prime factor, represent the last of Daimler Benz being the world standard. Peach Parts forum is a good tech forum and a good parts provider. Also AutoHaus AZ is good. I believe that my 1990 300SE and my 1989 Carrera Targa had about the same price when new. The $3500.00 I paid for the pristine Mercedes seems like a real bargain! Enjoy your new toy!

I have been thinking of finding a 300 D wagon and just do a complete refurbish.
I just need to find one that is worthy.
irobertson, the only advise I have is don't let them sit, they like to be driven and will give you good service life, Enjoy!

Finding a nice one outside of Socal is tough. I was looking for possibly a w126/560sel until the E39/540 fell in my lap. I know, not the same but it was too nice too pass up. The 126's are great cars.
