Post Want to buy: '73 Carrera RS replica

I am looking for an extremely nice, well built, rust free '73 Carrera RS replica. Must have a 2.7 or larger engine. Prefer white with blue stripes and wheels, but will consider white with red. Sunroof, racing seats, rollbar, and upgraded suspension a plus, but not necessary. I will be using the car for weekend driving and not for racing.

E-mail me at viperbrad@comcast.net if you have or know of such a car. I can either pay cash, or can trade my 550 mile '02 MINI Cooper S or my pristine, 21,700 mile red/black '91 NSX for the right car.

there's one in the bay area (Cali) if you're interested. he has a post on this forum from about 2 weeks ago. I saw it. it's really nice. he's got a 3.5 engine (3.0 case, 3.6 P&C's,
993(?) crank) with motec injection. engine looks really nice - he claims 275 h.p. car is white with red stripes and wheels, and has a few minor flaws. asking around 30k.

Try Dave Bouzaglou at TRE Automotive in Burbank Ca. I know he built one recently and his customer decided to sell. Not sure of the color, but it was completely rebuilt.
Also, David Buhain at Motorsport Road and Race in Los Angeles has a very nice one just completed in a flourescent yellow, car is perfect. I believe he is asking around 19K.
Good luck !

Not to be too far off topice, but I have always like the NSX. Curious of you could give your impressions? It seems the early cars are priced right about with the 964's now, ie. almost within grasp!

Chris,

The NSX is really a wonderful car - fine handling, great looks, and very low maintainence costs.

I also own a Boxster S, and the 2 cars are very comparable in the handling and acceleration departments, but the Boxster S has a bit more low end torque which makes it "feel" a bit quicker. That said, the NSX sounds like a Formula 1 race car once it hits the VTEC.

I've owned 8 911's in my life (favs being an '88 930 Turbo Cab and a '99 996 Cab), and really would like to have another Porsche in the garage next to my Boxster S. I've always love the look of the '73 RS, and that's why I want a replica right now.

If I can't find one that fits my needs, I may buy a white '95 -'96 993 Coupe and install a ducktail, blue Carrera side stripes, front splitters, and some nice wheels with the centers painted blue.

BTW, pricing on early NSX's is approx. upper $20's to low $30's for a decent higher mileage car to upper $30's to $40,000 for a very low mileage, perfect one like mine.
