Default I just recently drove the ultimate 911

Friend of mine is buying a 97 c4s and I tagged along and also test drove. OMG, I see why these cars are still so valuable. Its the whole package! Absolutely beautiful, I've seen these cars before but never got a really close look and feel of them.
Its got that "what different about this car" look. Very aggressive look yet subtle.
Performance and looks of a turbo except for turbo and tail, which personally makes the car perfect.
My favorite of all, it still has the classic 911 lines and air cooled sound.
Ultimate 911 hands down!

BTW, How can I get my exhaust to sound like this car, I have an 88 coupe?

ricster,

I kinda was leaning towards in terms of practicality hence "whole package". I know there are plenty of better performing 911's.

Trinitony,

Is that your car? Was my post right on? You are very lucky!
Do you think a cat bypass would do the trick?

thanks

Or a highly modded 930...

Did the C4S have an aftermarket exhaust?

Well most of us either run cat or muffler by pass. Send FisterD a message, and he maybe able to hook u up. And 993 prices have come down quite a bit recently..

here ...https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...ver-2-0-a.html

I spent $150 to mod my exhaust, and it sounds as good or better than the early gt3's stock. Now, that's what I was told at AX by the owner of a 3. Don't know how true it is though...

Some also run supercups aka louddddddd or Fabspeed or Dach X pipes..

I put a Dansk Euro Pre-muffler on my (former) 88' Cab. It replaces the stock Cat converter but still has the bings for the O2 sensors. There are also sport mufflers you can use on the 3.2L cars. There are many ways to improve the exhaust sound of those cars.

Another thing I would HIGHLY recommend is a DME Chip from Steve Wong (911chips.com), very good product.

Come on to Raleigh. I'll take you for a ride in my 98 C4S.

You'll see what forced induction does for these cars.

I completely understand where you are coming from on this. The C4S that I drove for the first time simply blew my mind. While I think that you will find that there are people here that will certainly say that you are only scratching the surface when it comes to these cars, given your prior experience it is like a quantum jump up in both comfort and fun from your current 911.

I am still thinking that I would like one of these for a daily driver at some point.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes a 97 C4s is an amazing car. I have much experiance with many of those and remember each one. The price is still pretty strong on those compared to the other standard 993 offerings, but well worth it in my opinion. Lots of opinion out there on aircooled cars, but a little time behind the wheel of one of those cars is a must before passing judgement. Absolute pinnicle of 911 development.

993 C4S the ultimate 911? HA. In looks maybe. My 997 C2S would blow the doors off any 993 except turbo.
