Going to look at it with the wife today.

They called last night. They found the original window sticker/bill of sale and some other stuff. I found this while trying to figure all this out. Figured I give this website some credit: http://www.roadglue.com/forum/showthread.php?t=198

This is a true one owner car. I believe they have some documentation that supports the mileage too.

The car started out in Michigan. Sold at Prestige Porsche. Then it went to Tennessee. Service records from Vaughn Porsche Audi. We didn't get into the rest. It looks like it was driven, but very little. That could explain some of the under body parts not looking as pristine as others. It went into permanent storage in the late 1990's.

Also, per the VIN this car was never equiped with California Emissions (never had the reactors). I'll keep you posted. I may have a new car today.

Don't go overboard on enthusiasm. There are certainly some attractions to this car, but it isn't like it is a pristine example that has had lots of loving care by the one owner. More like "shuffled off to Buffalo" IMO. You'll have expenses going forward, as has been noted above.

Took the wife and kids to see it saturday. Wife says buy it. I don't want to jinx anything, but I'm picking it up with a budy at lunch.

I broke out the 101 projects book over the weekend to get my refresher so I can start fixing the things I can do myself.

I'll keep you posted.

I know I am late to the party but the plug in the gas tank looks very suspcious to me. Is that stock? What's the story?

I thoght the plug would look more like this hex socket plug

Interesting catch Harry.

Here is a link to the porsche parts diagram.. Click on main group two, fuel system or scroll down to page 78 and page 80. Looks like this is a fuel filter.?

http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf...77_KATALOG.pdf

He said he replaced a fuel filter. I assumed it was the one in the back by the motor. I didn't know there was one in the tank too. Can some one elaborate... Here is a link to the part on Pelican:

That is the screen under that plug. Looks like this:

Did you have a shop run a PPI?

Also, is that cosmoline above the front torsion bars?

Looks like a bolt was rigged to fit into the hex and left there. I enlarged the photo, take a look.

I can't be sure from the photos, but it looks like a genuine 15k miles to me. If it spent its early years in Michigan it would have most likely seen winter duty which would/could give the results seen in your photos.
To me the underside looks very clean for a car that hasn't thorough detailing, which most cars never see.
A lot of the the funk in the pics looks like old cosmoline.

Congrats on a good find and a great color.
