A quick review of the lot pictures:
1. The original steering wheel is gone (indicates the possibility of high mileage).
2. Rear latch plate decals missing (why? Is the car a color change? Did it have a heavy rear collision that led to the conversion?).
3. Engine compartment air hoses incorrect (indicates possible shoddy maintenance).
4. Air filter cover strap missing (indicates higher mileage + shoddy maintenance).
5. Rt. side mirror hanging on for dear life (mounted incorrectly?).
6. Updated A/C compressor (another indicator that the mileage isn't accurate).
7. 1978 SCs had a smog pump; this car doesn't (what else is missing that will make CA registration impossible?).
8. A white oil filter? Hmmmm...
There's one born every minute!

After reading and hearing all of the sleazy things that go on at B-J with shill bidding etc, I wonder what the seller had to pay in grease money in order to get his car in the auction?

If the buyer of said car arrives here, some responses might be:
1. there is a special forum for slant nose conversions
2. that car is so expensive you are supposed to go to 6speedonline
3. I have a bridge I'd like to sell you
4. did you contact the factory to see if they wanted it for the museum

There is a guy here locally that "back in the day" manufactured steel slant nose kits for dealers around the world. what's he do now for a living???? He is in the business of restoring 911 back to stock. Smart move.

I was oogling a friend's factory slantnose Turbo targa last week. It was very interesting, and you can just tell that the parts are hand-made. The inner front fenders, headlight linkage, etc are all sturdy but definitely have a hand made look to them. The inner nose has some very rare looking plastic shells, and even the carpet and toolkit are different from my garden variety 3.2 911.
