AMJ, I can't say for sure, and would not want to speak out of turn. I think it's probably not the chafing issue, that I brought up. I like to use parts that are going to be able to last over the long haul, which is why I think it's good to put a sleeve or something over the SS lines. More likely, it was because of the potentially high liability of using non-factory parts on a vulnerable area. In fact, if you search for Ian's post (not hard), you might find the discussion. I am not gonna take no sides. I do think that doing nothing is probably worse.

i was out with my car today .. and believe me i was quite paranoid .. smelling for gas all the time.
as far as the O.E discusion goes.... Personally I think giuys who build hoses that provide fuel in aircraft can be trusted to keep your car movong forward without leaking .. but to each his own ..

This is way out in left field, but might be a valid idea given the number of engine fires that we routinely read about.
