Default Anyone here going to the Rolex 24 at Daytona?

I've got my plane tix and hotels. I'll arrive late Thurs nite and stay near MCO, and drive to the track Friday morning. I'll watch the Koni race that day and as much of the big one as I can. I'm in training for my trip to Le Mans in June. Two 24 hour events in one year.

Got a hotel on the beach for less than $100 for Fri and Sat nights. I'll stay in Orlando Sunday nite.

Best decision I made last year was grabbing a cheapo extended stay within walking distance up Bill France Blvd. Sure, it's loud, but only a 20 min walk back to a real room to crash for awhile is nice as we get older. Well under $100/nt. when I booked it, probably got pretty lucky.

Was pretty impressed with the organization on the infield for parking vs. my other two trips ('93, '00), but the crowd still rolls in early Sat AM to fill the non-camping parking up quickly.

Ed:

I have been following your comments on rennlist.com for about six months, and have enjoyed them very much. I live in South Ponte Vedra Beach - near St. Augustine, Fl. and will be at my third Daytona 24 hour race - other two being in 1964 and 2009. I would love to meet you and at your convenience, show you around the area.

Please contact me - Eastern Standard time, at the following phone number -
904- 994-6270. My Porsche is a 1986 911 Wide body cabriolet.

I will be going for the second time after going last year, this time with the girlfriend who seems genuinely intersted! I've got the Grassroots Motorsports tickets again which are a steal for what you get: 4 day ticket, infield parking and car corral near the carnival, garage and fanzone passes, dinner during the race, iRacing simulators, 24 hour slot cars, prizes etc... awesome deal for $100! Found a comfort inn in daytona beach for $75 incl tax a night with my scca discount. I'll be flying in thursday night and leaving monday.

I actually joined Grand-Am and am listed as a team member. I may get some access to the spotter's crows nest.
