'87 Carrera is finally here!
OK, so the weather was really bad here in Northern California recently (well, bad in California terms) and the route through the mountains from Oregon to CA was going to be a nightmare in a little 911, so I wimped out and decided to have the car shipped. I called Intercity and DeMoise but neither was going to have a truck up in the Pacific Northwest for weeks. I called FedEx Auto Transport and they were available, so I went with them. My experience with them was truly excellent. The people on the phone were extremely friendly and helpful, they can easily contact the driver and give you a status report on the spot, and the driver himself called regularly to let me know where he was and when he was going to make the delivery. Delivery day was today!
I did end up breaking my own cardinal rule and wound up buying the car sight unseen, but the seller was terrific and the car was thoroughly PPI'd by the fine folks at Stuttgart Autotech in Oregon (thanks to Jess and Todd at Stuttgart for their patience dealing with my many calls and e-mails throughout the process, and to Steve Weiner for recommending them).
The car rolled off the truck at about 11:00am this morning. It's been raining solidly here for about four days, but the clouds parted just as the car was being backed off the truck and the rain stopped - for about 30 seconds, at which point it started to pour again
Anyway, the car was exactly as described by the seller and Stuttgart. I took it out for a quick spin with my wife and it's truly awesome. Tight as a drum and drives like a dream. I can't wait to show it to the Bay Area Pelicans at the upcoming New Year's drive.
Here's a few quick photos from delivery day:

Congrats! It sucks you couldn't drive her home, but she made it safely, and that is what counts. If the ppi shop was recommended by Steve, then you had no worries trusting their verdict.
We've been pretty soggy down here as well. Ruby is tucked away safely on her lift for her annual "spa time" whic is the present she gets every Christmas.
I hope you have some time off for the Holidays so you can get to know her. But, the El Nino forecast does seem to be real. We need the agua.
Good luck with her!

I had about 120K miles of pure fun with mine. Enjoy.
