Penske 911 for sale
No affilation. Just passing on. I remember reading about this car in Excellence, so if anyone has some serious coin they want to drop?, and have a conversation piece this might be your car.

Wow. $139K eh? I thought I was being impractical buying myself a Minichamps 917-30 for Christmas.
I read The Unfair Advantage when I was 12. Then I started reading everything I could about Porsche, the company. Mark Donohue, Roger Penske, and the racing stories they told of the 917 forged my love for Porsches and 911.

The guy's trying to sell the car, IMO. I saw it in the local PCA mag's classifieds this past weekend, so it seems that it is being pushed.
But as to the price? All anybody needs to do is start negotiating with them. They gotta start somewhere-better too high than too low. Look what nice longhoods go for these days. Then, consider the provenance. It may be worth it to someone to get a clearly special car such as this. Besides, it's a Targa, what else could you want?
Although, I question the scheme of the car.....contrasting petals on the wheels, polished Targa bar, bright trim all around, ducktail. Who'd be caught dead in such a vehicle?

Some would say that, with a 911, never lower the price. If it won't sell, raise the price untill it does. I dig the car though - the provenance is not what I want a 911 for. Provenance is an Elvis-owned Caddilac, A longhood to me means 7200 rpm in third gear and that can be had in many ways. Lots of tribute cars out there converted to longhoods, and I like them. I still think Ruby (Ed) would make an outstanding tribute car... The longhood is easy, but getting the interior properly converted is the challenge. my .02

Three Wheelin'
I know the owner and have seen the car. The owner has a couple of local businesses that are car/racing related. He and his family are great folks and certainly love cars and racing.
He is motivated to sell I am sure, but to the right buyer(s). I am not sure what the price should be, but I know the owner has access to good information on pricing from experts. I am not sure he has sought their help, but if I had to guess I'd say yes.
I think the car still lives down at Club Auto Sport in San Jose, a really cool place. Last time I was there I saw it, and... it is really nice-- even smells like a new car.
Hopefully it winds up in the hands of someone who loves Porsches like the current owner and likely previous owners.
