There's the Rockville Porsche Audi. I know there are several good places in that area, but I don't venture across the Wilson Bridge too much anymore. If you're willing to go to NoVA, lemme know and I can give you many recommendations.

Tiff's in Annapolis is my choise, only about 30-40 minutes from Rockville, traffic depending of course. There are a lot of threads on the potomac region website, check it out.

Tif's will do a great job for you. I think they will take a closer look than the standard dealer punch list.

Another option is IMA Motorsports in Alexandria. More race oriented. www.imamotorsport.com

Northern Virginia is crawling with good independent Porsche shops but they seem to be in short supply in Maryland. Try Autotherapy (301-417-7111) in Gaithersburg - good people, very knowledgable, PCA-friendly. Another posibility is TAG (301-258-0859) also in Gaithersburg but I don't know much about them. If you prefer a dealer, Tischer P-A(Silver Spring) may be preferable to Rockville P-A. Two years ago when I asked Rockville how much an annual service would cost for my '80 SC, the answer was "I don't know, we've never worked on anything that old." Maybe it was just one guy, but it didn't give me much confidence.

Bill

I have heard your name around but have never seen your car in the shop, it looks great. I have a platinum SC and hang around Tif as much as he can stand me! Hopefully I will run into you, uh, and your car someday!

Leo:
I live in Bethesda and take my car to TAG Motorwerks in Gaithersburg. My dad has been going there since 1993, I have since I got my first Pcar since 1997. The owner does all the work on P cars. He is very thurough and will tell you exactly what he thinks about the car. If you bring him a car that is not a good buy, he will tell you straight out, no sugar coating it. He also WON'T recommend you buy a car that has issues, just so he can do the work. I won't take my 911 to anyone else. He is the only mechanic who has talked me out of spending money in his shop.

Hey Chris, My stops at Tif's have been pretty short this year. Service before a track event. The car spent a lot of time out of the area this summer.

See you at the track!

A little closer is Autobahn Motorworks off of River Road (near VW and the Crescent Trail overpass) in Bethesda, MD. Their telephone number is (301)656-4949. John McWilliams is the service manager.
