Question Correct stereo for 89 Carrera

My new to me 89 Carrera has a replacement AM/FM/CD that is probably expensive, sounds pretty darn good, but is obviously not original as well as not cosmetically matching the dash very well. As I don't care too much about the stereo (would rather listen to the engine) I would like to replace it with an original unit or close enough (i.e., from a C2). Is the Blaupunkt Boston, as listed in the Original 911 book correct, and if so, who specializes in these? Thanks for any advice!

Try www.blaupunktusa.com. You may find some dealer info there. My 82 911 sc has the original with 10 disc player. However, it is so old, it is not listed on the blaupunkt site. Still sounds great, despite the absense of more modern stereo features.

I recently bought an '89 Carrera as well, and had the exact same issue. I went onto Blaupunkt's website, and they not only show head unit models that are brand new, but they show their older models as well! I went with the the 'Las Vegas' model ( I think that's what it was). I couldn't find one of these anywhere!!!! But I wanted a disc player, and it HAD to fit into the overall look of the interior, so that it looked as if it was stock. My car only has 14,000 miles on it...and keeping it looking 'stock' was my number 1 priority.

What I did was I went on ebay, and found somebody who had a basically brand new blaupunkt Las Vegas unit...and I contacted him directly (instead of bidding) and basically asked him what he would take for it if I offered him money to take it off! I bought the thing for $100!!!!and it looks absolutely stock!

If you're interested in seeing it in the dash of my car, send me your e-mail address to davidwalker@kronos.com, and I'll take a picture of it tonight, and send it over.

I couldn't be happier with the end result!

David
