Thumbs up Saw SPY GAMES last night

Great movie....if not a bit long, awesome shots of Robert Redford's early 911S in it, including a little bit of aggressive driving and beautiful scenery. So, if you guys are looking to see a good flick, check it out.

It's a late 60s 912. Why? Anyone's guess. But Redford's reputedly a fan of the 911.

****, 912? WEAK! Aaaah well, still a good movie and a clean car nonetheless.

I recently rented "Along Came a Spider" (I think that's the title), also set in DC, in which Morgan Freeman drives a car that looks very similar to the one Redford drives in Spy Games. Love the chrome on those old cars.

I remember the car Morgan Freeman was driving, reminds me of Jacks 3.6. Awesome car either way. I would love to get an older chrome car, they are surely growing on me! For the mean time the SC and an MGB will have to do!

In "Kiss the Girls" with Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman's character drove a Porsche. (The character, Alex Cross drives a Porsche in all the books). The car in Kiss the Girls (the movie) was a black 911S, probably a 76-77 vintage because of the big bumpers, lack of fender flairs and "flag" style mirror (which was only on the driver's side). Didn't see Along Came a Spider.

We're both right. This came up on the Pelican board. There were three cars (maybe four) used for the shooting. The production people were looking for a 912, but also painted up a 911.

Here's the thread.

If any of you boys and girls ever make it to a PCA Potomac Region DE you'll get to see the Spy Game 912 up close. It is actually a very neat clean car and probably one of the nicer 69 912s out there. The owner is a do it yourself kind of guy and has made some neat mods to the car.

Carrera51, you're not talking about the green one are you? The one with the plexi-tail and front bow-plane spoiler? If so, that car is pretty neat. I see him all the time at Summit Point. ...While I'm not familiar with most of the movies the previous threads are discussing, except "Kiss the Girls", that one was black, maybe the original 912 discussed was green?

Jeff:
That's the car. Kurt fabricated his bolt on front and rear spoilers from Lexan. He's like McGiver

Hello

A Porsche is a Porsche.

I donīt think a 912 is a lesser Porsche.
It isnīt as fast as a 911 but tousends bought them becourse they didnīt need the speed and liked the better handling.
And seen absolute 100 mph topspeed is enough for 52 staates to get direct to jail and 17,8 sec for a quarter mile with a 90 HP car isnīt bad either.
In the 60īs slight tuned 912 showed 130 HP 911 who is handled faster/better in club events.

Right now most people think a 912 is in need form a 6 or 8 cylinder to become a true Porsche.

Grüsse
