Default Looking for some pricing advice ...

I am putting my 85 911 coupe up for sale ... actually it has been for sale since I purchased a 993 about 6 months ago. Here is where I need your input ...

The 993 was in for some reseal work and I continued to drive the 85. While drivng one day the fan "fragmented". One fan blade broke off and took the rest of them with it, along with part of the housing. I have since fixed the damage by replacing the fan and housing. The rear deck lid remains damaged ... see photo.

The work done to the 993 ended up way over budget ... big surprise :-) ... a few "while I am in there's", etc. ... so I am reluctant to put any more $$$ in the 85 since I am selling it.

How would you price the 85? Here are some of the details ...

147,000 miles, recently reupholstered seats, headliner and dash, 6 and 7 " Fuchs, Bridgestone 960 AS w/ 70% rubber left, mostly stock, original paint, runs strong, uses 1 qt oil in 800 miles, rebuilt brakes and calipers at 135,000. It has been a reliable daily driver. It isn't a "garage queen". It is in good shape considering the age and mileage.

Prior to the fan problem I had been asking $16,000 and had some attention but no offers. Obviously the price has to come down but how much? Thanks in advance ...

I commend your honesty regarding the oil consumption. That would be my first reservation. The second would be the price.

Cars like that are selling all day on Craigslist and Ebay for 10-12k. Not what you want to hear Im sure... But non-g50 cars that have under 100k miles and no damage arent getting more than 16k. just my .02.

.. and the quart every 800 miles means you could use ( or are approaching ) a rebuild which is big dollars.
this is gonna be a tough car to move for decent money .

All good points and ones I have been considering. This car has been a very reliable DD for me, fun to drive and fun to work on. I will put it on Craigslist and RL classifieds this weekend. I need to "wordsmith" the ad to make sure I bring out the positives as well as the negatives.

I appreciate the comments. While I dont post often I do read this forum regularly. It is always entertaining and I usually find a solution for my questions.

I like your car but.........going into a buy knowing it is on the tip of needing at the least head work and as you mentioned "while we were in there" oh' lordy. Deck lid and paint match easy to come by. The big bucks for the engine, not so easy.
Also, how bout' that tranny, is it getting close to time? I know this isn't fun because I have been there.
