Default Brake pad recommendation 85 Carrera

I am thinking of replacing the brake pads on my 85 911. The car is only used for street and no track events. I am interested to see if anyone has experience with any pads that are low in brake dust yet still stop well. I am not sure of the make of pads that are currently on the car. They are very dusty. The rear pads were replaced 2000 miles during the PPI. They squeal really bad. I have a factory turbo body so I have the cross drilled rotors. The rotors have 50% left in front and 75% in rear. I have checked out a lot of different brands but I would like some real world suggestion vs. manufacturer claims.

Thanks,
Craig

Craig,

JMHO, I think you'd be very pleased with Mintex street pads.

Rotor friendly, VERY little dust, and really good grip once they are bedded in.

Thats all we use and sell on most street cars,...

I've been using PBR Ultimate Ceramic pads for ages. They also go by the brand/name of "Centric Ultimate" or Axxis Ultimate Ceramic. They are awesome pads. I also found a good source for Zimmermann rotors at AutohausAZ. I found the Axxis/Centric pads at my local auto parts store for $53 front, $48 rear. The rear Z rotors were $88 ea, and I have spare fronts in my parts stash.

I'm sorry to say that the Axxis ceramics throw a ton of dust out, but they are friendly on rotors, and stop very well. I don't use them at all for track use. I used PBR and other brand organic pads before that, and they are junk. The Centric brake pad sensor is a very well made part with high quality. I paid 11.59 each for them, compared to $7.00 for the generic one.

To follow up on Steve's recommendation, I used Mintex for many years street and early DE years-they worked well, wore well and were fairly inexpensive as far as Porsche related parts go. And, they were clean!
