Default Porsche radio repair/restoration

One of the guys on the 356 Registry wrote me and asked where there may be a shop to restore his '85 911 SQR 23 Blaupunkt. I posted over on Pelican but got nutin'. I also would like to know as I am returning the Carreras back to stock. Since all I listen to is engine, a stock radio is fine with me. By the way if anyone has Blaupunkt SQR 22 or SQR 23 radios and wants to sell then let me know. I know a few guys that want to do the same thing.

If you are looking for absolutely stock, then a repair is the way to go.

I purchased a new "classic" SQR-23 here: http://www.swstereo.com/stdetail.php?prodID=7

I'm with you, the radio doesn't come on much when driving so sound quality doesn't matter. However, this one is not bad. BTW, the illumination is green.

I've looked into this and found several old posts as I have a Reno that doesn't work.

Here is a repair place I found:
http://www.bcelectron.com/repair_bra...o_repairs.html

I called these people and basically you send it in with a diagnostic fee of $35 (??) and return postage, they get your radio and then tell you how much to repair. If you think it is too much they send the radio back.

And already posted above is SW Stereo Specialists, they do repairs and also sell a modern direct replacement for the Reno, called the Dearborn.

http://www.swstereo.com/stdetail.php?prodID=7

For a $100 more they will open the radio up and patch in a cable / Jack for your iPod out of the back. Cable is long enough so you snake it back under the dash, under the carpet and plug your ipod in between the seats.

Direct replacement, plugs all the same, no wiring.

The guy there name is Stefan. I never talked to him about repairing my Reno.

Should get my radio today or tommorrow from SW.

I've got a working old Blaupunkt with the "Porsche" writing on it from a '78 911SC. I forgot which model it is though. I would probably sell it if someone wants it. It has some sort of external box that I have no idea what it's for.

I also have a Concord HPL 515 with two amp outs and a nice tape deck. No way am I getting rid of that one.
