Default Tach Markings Below 1000 rpm

I was calling up past threads about idle speed and one poster wrote that the tach on a 3.2 Carrera reads in 200 rpm increments, i.e. it starts out at 400, then 600, then 800, then 1000.

I always thought it was in 250 rpm increments: 250, 500, 750, 1000.

What's correct? Thanks.

Well, I'm idling just below the third mark, meaning I'm either at @725 or 775 rpm. Either way it's on the low side, but one's closer to what it should be for an '86.
Something tells me I may have a leak or two...

You are correct. 250, 500, 750, 1000. Idle on US 3.2 is 890 for 1987 3.2 at normal engine temperature. Adjusting idle (US 1987) requires more than screwdriver adjustment. You have to run a simple 3" long jumper wire across two points in a black socket located on the electric panel mounted adjacent to the coil and under the black cover. It's an easy DIY project. Research here or Pelican since 1986 Euro could be slightly different procedure. I think 800 is idle spec for 1986 3.2.
