Post 2.7L motor: Mech FI or Webers?

I'm having a motor built for a streetable 73 911 that will have 2.7L pistons/cylinders, 9:5:1 compression, E cams, SSI headers/exhaust. What is the best fuel system for this engine? I can use a mech FI pump that has been rebuilt/recalibrated with 2.7 cams or go with Webers. I'd be open to an aftermarket programmable FI option if there was one that made a BIG difference and not too expensive. Anybody been faced with this decision before who had an outcome you swear by?

I am anxious to see the results of this question. I know everyone says carbs carbs carbs. But I can't see why a good aftermarket FI set-up can't be superior in reliaibility, very low maintenace, and just as good in performance. What am I missing?

Can some of the Megasquirt converts chime in here?
