I replaced it when I very first got the car so i just have to look at the documents when i registered it. it sat in my garage for 8 months while I did the maintanance.
Now that is info that I can use. Thanks, ice, let me know when you decide to do the oil change!

I can get off my lazy duff and figure out how to suction my gear oil out somehow, but I can't guarantee how clean it will be.

The best way to do it is to use aerosol parts cleaner and spray the area around the drain plug, then loosen the plug before you put your container under it. The possibility for a mess is very high, if you can, drain the oil into a clean Tupperware pan, or similar, then shake the pan around and transfer a few ounces to a clean canning jar, or plastic container with a no-leak cap.

LOL. The suction system might work, but I've never tried that. Getting a sample involves getting what's lying in the bottom of the trans (microscopic metal bits from gear teeth, etc.), I'm not sure a suction gun can be effective.

Excellent!

I'd suggest adding some pics that ID various components with text and arrows pointing to the component.

Thanks, Randy! We're trying, this thing is still an infant but we're learning!

Pete, very nice work. Thanks for the detailed information and pictures.

Is it fair to compare the 930/34 transmission in terms of the work around syncho/dog teeth replacement? I'm gonna have to pull the transmission out of my 1979 930 pretty soon so I can do the 1/2 dog teeth/synchro/slider shuffle.

OBTW, you mentioned sticker shock at the end of the 3rd article. I priced out the parts for this 1/2 dog/synchro/slider replacement - $2973.99 without sales tax! And the 2nd gear bushing (930 302 262 00) is NLA. Any suggestions? Stoddard does not have them and I've checked with G-Box.

Thanks again for a great series of articles!

Toby

I will try to chase down a source for that part after the holiday weekend.
